Judith Valletta, Director of FIDEM Foundation, receiving a donation from members of Susan’s family.
The FIDEM Foundation has gratefully accepted a generous donation from John Morrison in loving memory of his wife, Susan Marie Schmid Morrison, who passed away on 31st March 2026 at the age of 86.
In July, John Morrison visited Malta with his family, during which they met members of the FIDEM Foundation and learned more about the organisation's work in empowering women, adolescent girls and children through education, wellbeing and social inclusion initiatives. Inspired by the Foundation's mission, John chose to make a generous donation in Sue's memory, ensuring that her legacy of compassion and generosity continues to make a meaningful difference.
Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her compassion extended far beyond her family. Sue dedicated much of her life to faith, philanthropy and community service, supporting organisations including the Catholic Community Foundation, United Way, St. Catherine University, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Minnesota Orchestra and the League of Catholic Women. She was awarded an honorary doctorate by St. Catherine University and was invested as a Dame of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, an honour that reflected her lifelong commitment to faith, charity and service, and chose to wear this robe as her final resting attire.
Through John Morrison's thoughtful donation, Sue's legacy of generosity will continue to live on by supporting the FIDEM Foundation's programmes, helping women, adolescent girls and children access opportunities that empower them to build brighter futures.
The FIDEM Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to John Morrison and his family for choosing to honour Sue's memory through this meaningful contribution and offers its deepest condolences to the entire Morrison family.
